10 Nights Exotic Kerala Holiday
Kerala is one of the most popular destinations for tourists in India, and it has been described as “one of the 100 great trips of the 21st century” by Travel and Leisure. With such credentials as these, it’s hard to think of reasons not to visit. Here, waterfalls, palaces and wildlife sanctuaries are ten a penny, and Kerala’s ecotourism initiatives have given rise to a wealth of nature-based activities, such as mountaineering, trekking and bird-watching in the Western Ghats.
During your 10 night visit, you’ll spend two nights getting to know your way around Kochi, “the Queen of the Arabian Sea” and the spice capital of the world for many years. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to cuisine, as Kochi delicacies often contain a lot of coconut, spices and seafood, due to its coastal position. You’ll visit sights such as the Mattancherry Palace, St Francis’ Church and even receive a cooking demonstration in the evening. You’ll then spend another two nights in Munnar, located deep within the mountain ranges, allowing you to experience Keralan life in its purest and most traditional form, as well as gawp at the incredible scenery and tea plantations Munnar has to offer.
You’ll then head to Thekkady for two nights, located in the Periyar Sanctuary. The sanctuary is made up of dense grasslands which are home to all sorts of exotic wildlife, such as elephants, sambar, tigers, gaur and langurs, and its forest stretches a whopping 140 square miles, so bring your camera as there’s plenty to see during your sensational boat tour from the Periyar Tiger Reserve.
An exquisite boat tour will take you from Thekkady to Alleppey and next you’ll venture into Kovalam for three nights. After taking a thrilling boat ride you can wine and dine at one of the adorable floating restaurants. This part of the trip is designed to allow for maximum relaxation, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life back home.
