With its diverse landscape, Thailand is a country that is often best explored by tour. From glistening cities to impressive temples, elephant sanctuaries, jungle treks, laid-back beaches and euphoric islands, it’s little surprise that many visitors opt to embark on a twin or multi-centre Thailand holiday. This type of holiday allows you to experience the country’s diversity, from boutique malls to local markets, cosmopolitan cities to rural villages, and exquisite high-class restaurants to inviting local street stalls.

Thailand’s privileged location, bordering Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Laos (and within easy reach of others), means that it’s also a popular choice when it comes to multi-centre holidays that travel beyond Thailand. It’s also, of course, popular with those who wish to visit a selection of its stunning islands, and with over 1000, it really is a beach-hoppers paradise.

If too much choice is leaving you a little confused, we’ve put together some suggested itineraries for your next Thailand adventure -it’s time to get packing!

Suggested Itineraries:

Island Hopping Holiday

The islands in Thailand are renowned for their beautiful beaches, a relaxed vibe and an excellent range of activities, such as snorkelling and watersports. Whilst island hopping in Thailand used to be popular with independent backpackers, the destination is now attracting an older crowd who often travel there on an organised tour. After all, booking a pre-arranged Thailand island hopping holiday takes the stress out of independent travel, especially as some of the ferries to the islands don’t run out of season, and transport quality can vary.

Popular islands to visit on an island-hopping holiday include Koh Lanta- an island boasting miles-upon-miles of pristine sand beaches, a relaxed vibe and plenty of world-class diving spots.

A short ferry ride away, the Phi Phi islands are equally popular and consist of Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Ley. Phi Phi Don has a lively atmosphere, with dreamy beaches and plenty of bars and restaurants to keep you amused. Its hotel-free, neighbouring island: Phi Phi Ley makes a popular day trip for tourists and was made famous when it played the main setting in the Leonardo Di Caprio film ‘The Beach’. Phi Phi Ley is nothing short of stunning, with colourful coral reefs, crystal-clear waters and soaring jagged cliffs.

City and Beach Tour

If you enjoy the thrill and attraction of the city as well unwinding on the beach, a Thailand city and beach tour may be for you. Options include a Bangkok and Phuket getaway, or alternatively, you could also visit northern Thailand on a Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket holiday.

Thailand’s whirlwind capital city, Bangkok, feels a world away from home. Spend your time sampling flavoursome food at the colourful markets, visiting temples, riding tuk-tuks and exploring the museums.

In contrast to Bangkok, Chiang Mai in northern Thailand is blissfully laid-back and feels more like a town than a city. The outskirts of Chiang Mai are surrounded with lush paddy fields, exotic rainforests, waterfalls, sleepy villages, markets and elephant sanctuaries.

Phuket, Thailand’s largest island, has long been famed for its beaches and offers different resorts to suit various kinds of tourists. Patong, the backpacker area, is renowned for its party vibe, whereas the area around the stunning Bang Tao Beach is more upmarket with glossy bars and restaurants, and jungled Rawai on the very south of the island is beautifully remote.

Thailand and Beyond

Due to Thailand’s fantastic location, which offers easy access to a whole host of other Asian countries; twin and triple centre holidays to Thailand and other neighbouring countries are a popular choice with tourists. Many tourists are now choosing to enjoy a Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam holiday or even travel further afield, with trips such as a Thailand, Singapore and Bali tour, proving popular choices.

Thailand’s neighbouring country, Cambodia is renowned for its incredible temples and is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor, which is widely considered to be one of the most important archaeological sites in all of South-East Asia.

Bordering Cambodia, Vietnam boasts an array of incredible experiences and is famed for the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Halong Bay - a group of approximately 1,600 spectacular limestone islands that jut out of the sea. There is also a wide selection of diverse locations to visit within Vietnam, from the golden beaches of Nha Trang to the atmospheric ancient town of Hoi An, and the modern cityscape of Ho Chi Minh City.

Overall, it’s easy to see why Thailand packages have skyrocketed in popularity in recent years. As well as its incredible diversity and fantastic location, Thailand also boasts a sunny climate and friendly locals (which has given Thailand its nickname: The Land of Smiles). With great value Thailand tours widely available, there are plenty of reasons to book an unforgettable holiday to Thailand.
