Marrakech is a major city and popular tourist destination in Morocco. It is located at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, just a few hours away from the Sahara Desert.
The best time to visit Marrakech (for warm, comfortable temperatures) is from March-May and September - November. The cooler winter months of December and February are also popular with tourists and the weather can still reach 70°F. June and August can get very hot with temperatures of 95°F.
Marrakech has plenty to see and do. The historic Medina (Jemaa el-Fnaa), Koutoubia Mosque, Majorelle Garden, an array of speciality museums and desert safaris are just a handful of the highlights.
There are traditional Riad hotels located in the centre of Marrakech. However, many tourists opt to stay outside of central Marrakech and there are some luxury resorts with top facilities on the outskirts of the city. All inclusive holidays to Marrakech are therefore increasingly popular.
Marrakech is considered a very safe city for tourists.
A direct flight to Marrakech from the UK takes around 3 hours and 10 minutes.
