Overview
Rhine, Main & Danube — A Grand European Journey
Few river journeys can rival this — a sweeping voyage along three of Europe's greatest waterways, the Rhine, Main and Danube, connecting iconic cities, timeless landscapes and centuries of history in one remarkable itinerary.
Your adventure begins in Amsterdam, a city of golden-age elegance where canal reflections, world-class museums and an irresistibly vibrant street life set the tone for the journey ahead.
Heading south, Koblenz marks one of the Rhine's most dramatic moments — the Deutsches Eck, where the Rhine meets the Moselle, overlooked by the formidable Ehrenbreitstein Fortress and a beautifully preserved medieval old town. In Mainz, half-timbered facades, a towering Romanesque cathedral and the celebrated Gutenberg Museum tell the story of a city that helped shape the modern world.
Würzburg captivates with its exuberant baroque character — none more so than the Prince-Bishop's Residenz, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of breathtaking scale and grandeur. Nuremberg follows, its imperial castle and centuries-old craft traditions conjuring a vivid sense of medieval Germany, while Regensburg — another UNESCO treasure — charms with its ancient Stone Bridge and one of Central Europe's most intact historic centres.
At the confluence of three rivers, Passau surprises with its unexpected Italian character: sun-warmed piazzas, soaring churches and a geography unlike anywhere else on the route.
The Danube then carries you to Vienna, Europe's imperial showpiece. Schönbrunn Palace, St. Stephen's Cathedral, legendary coffee houses and an unrivalled musical heritage make this one of the continent's truly unmissable cities. Across the border, Bratislava offers a compelling contrast — baroque streetscapes giving way to a confident, contemporary energy.
The journey reaches its magnificent conclusion in Budapest, where the grand sweep of Parliament, the elegant Chain Bridge and a spa culture rooted deep in history make for a finale that genuinely lives up to the build-up.
This is river cruising at its most ambitious — culture, history and natural beauty woven together across three countries and two thousand years of European civilisation.
