Overview

Your holiday of a lifetime begins in the capital city of Bangkok where culinary flair and urban jungle collide. A veritable concoction of old-meets-new, Bangkok is a place where regal-looking temples are perched beside ironclad skyscrapers, and 200-year-old rickety village homes rub shoulders with colossal shopping centres containing quirky keepsakes and bejeweled designer gear.

Spend some time at the Grand Palace, home to the Wat Phra Kaew, Thailand’s most sacred Buddhist temple, and marvel at the divine Emerald Buddha statue. Kick back and relax in Silom’s Lumphinin Park if you’re looking to escape the city’s hustle and bustle or take a TukTuk tour, an age-old symbol of the city which offers a speedy (if a little shaky) tour of the city’s hidden crevices.

Two nights beneath the bright lights of Bangkok will be followed by a stay in Kanchanaburi, a peaceful province which is home to the Bridge over the River Kwai and infamous “Death Railway”. The chilled-out riverside vibe running through the core of Kanchanaburi and its significant WWII importance may provide a welcome breather from Bangkok’s frenetic back-alleys.

Staying at the Hintok River Camp, this leg of your trip will provide an emotional insight into the horrific conditions prisoners of WWII underwent during the construction of the “Death Railway.” Visit the Hellfire Pass Memorial and Thailand-Burma Railway Centre to catch a glimpse into the ghastly goings-on of this tumultuous era.

Your next destination will be Phuket, a twinkling paradise nestled on Thailand’s Indian Ocean coastline which abounds with fluorescent coral reefs begging to be explored. Home to jet-skiing, snorkeling, diving, yachting and parasailing, much of Phuket’s beauty lies on or beneath its shiny ocean surface.

If you’re not satisfied with beach-bumming and cocktail-guzzling, take yourself off on a speedboat tour of the islands around Phuket, such as Phang-nga Bay and Phi Phi Island. With turquoise waters and playful marine life frolicking about beneath the ocean’s ripples, you might find a spot of island-hopping will wash all your troubles away.

Day 1

ARRIVE BANGKOK

Welcome to Bangkok! One of our trusty representatives will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel where you’ll spend the rest of the day at leisure. Keep that pesky jetlag at bay by indulging in a relaxing Thai massage or get your taste buds tingling with tasty local cuisine beneath the glow of the sunset in one of the city’s stylish rooftop bars.

BANGKOK

Today there is no set itinerary so you’re free to explore the lively streets of Bangkok of your own accord or take one of the many optional excursions available. We recommend a half-day tour for first-timers to the city, involving a visit to the most popular Buddhist temple and landmark in the “city of angels” (this is not included).

Stop off at the Royal Grand Palace – a real must-see! This architectural powerhouse served as a royal residence from the 18th to the mid-20th century and is possibly the most visited royal monument of Thailand. The building is also home to Bangkok’s most sacred temple, the “Wat PhraKaew” and the famous Emerald Buddha.

Day 3

BANGKOK - KANCHANABURI

Set off bright-eyed and bushy-tailed between 6.00-6.30 from your hotel via transfer. You’ll be whisked off to the Kanchanaburi province (128km west of Bangkok) where you’ll visit the famous Bridge over the River Kwai and take a train ride along the scenic and historic Death Railway route. Get off the train and chow down on a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, proceeding then to the Hellfire Pass Memorial. When you reach Hintok River Camp you’ll check in and have dinner. Overnight in the resort with breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 4

KANCHANABURI

Join a leisurely bicycle tour along the River KwaiNoi early this morning where you’ll pass a hanging bridge and feast your eyes on a local temple. Watch as the locals offer food and alms to the Buddhist monks and discover this naturally beautiful and wonderfully serene area. Overnight in the resort in Kanchanaburi with breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 5

KANCHANABURI - BANGKOK

After breakfast you’ll check out from the hotel and head off on a long-tailed boat tour to the River Kwai Jungle Rafts. The route will take you alongside untouched verdant jungle landscape and to an ethnic Mon Tribal Village. Optional: bike tour as you exit the bamboo jungle trek (300 Baht pp) or relaxing Thai massage (not included). As you venture away from the village, proceed to the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, both an interactive museum and research facility dedicated to preserving the history of the Thailand-Burma Railway. It’s an educational and moving experience for all who visit (plus there’s air conditioning!).

Next, visit the Allied War Cemetery, a memorial to some 6000 allied prisoners of war who perished along the Death Railway line. You’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Bangkok city centre. Overnight with breakfast and lunch included.

BANGKOK – PHUKET

Spend the first part of your day at leisure until you board your coach transfer to Bangkok Airport bound for your next destination… Phuket! Breakfast included.

Today will be spent at leisure too so we recommend taking it easy and exploring your home for the next few nights. During the day you could relax on the beach and in the evening explore Phuket’s charming and lively streets in search of handicrafts and traditional Thai cuisine. Overnight in Phuket.

Spend your day however you please, whether it be seeking out souvenirs at Phuket’s market stalls, sampling some wonderful Thai cuisine or enjoying the night-time entertainment (not included).

Take some time to explore the island yourself today. Phuket is the sailing and yachting centre of Thailand, so you could very well spend your day doing a spot of island-hopping on a yacht charter or sailing boat excursion.
