Spend 10 nights touring all of Nepal’s hot spots
Located in Southern Asia, Nepal is a touristy bubble bursting with spectacular hiking routes and eight of the world’s highest peaks, including Everest. Lush, green mountains and sparkling lakes make for a concoction that’s irresistible to tourists and visitors, who find themselves drawn in by its cultural charm and religious heritage. Temples are ten a penny and the lifestyle is so unique and rich with flavor and age-old customs that it’s hard not to fall in love with the Nepalese way of life.
Beginning in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, your trip will lead you deep into the very heart of Nepali culture. As you mingle with the monkeys at the Monkey Temple, one of the most sacred Buddhist sites, and pay a visit to the Boudha Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world, you’ll come to understand why this country has such a rich history. You’ll step foot into the Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the Lord of Animals, and then wander Durbar Square’s palaces and temples, including the Kasthamandap, also known as the “Wooden House.” The square, sprinkled with merchants and devotees during the early hours, is Nepal’s most popular UNESCO World Heritage Site (and rightly so!).
Then, swap the urban vibes of Kathmandu with Chitwan. you will visit Chitwan National Park, whose 932 square kilometers are a haven for Bengal tigers, leopards, crocodiles, monkeys and more. Keep your eyes peeled for these sensational beasts, as well as the endangered one horn rhinos, which roam the plump grassland. In addition to marveling at the colorful flora and fauna, you can also go on elephant rides, jungle canoeing, nature walks and tiger and rhino viewing. Here you will spend 2 nights at the Jungle Villa, a leafy location right in the thick of all the glorious flora and fauna.
When you finally tire of Chitwan National Park charm, you’ll head to Pokhara, the second largest city in Nepal. As the starting point for many of the treks to the Annapurna Mountain Range, Pokhara is a lively hub of culture vultures and hiking enthusiasts. It is also home to the Phewa Lake, one of Nepal’s most idyllic spots, perfect for rowing across and gazing at the mesmerizing views of the towering peaks and dense forests which surround it.
After Pokhara, you’ll head to Bandipur, another hill-top town offering an abundance of hiking routes and fabulous views from elevated viewpoints. The quaint Old Inn in Bandipur will also be your home for a night, before hitting the road to Nagarkot where you’ll settle for 2 nights.
Nagarkot, a town located 32 km from Kathmandu which offers maybe the best views of the Himalayas in all of the Bhaktapur District, as well as a panoramic view of the Kathmandu Valley. At sunrise, watch as Mount Everest and other peaks of the Himalayan range come into view, startlingly crystal clear, and then head off for a hike into the heart of all of this incredibly beautiful nature.
