Overview

Malaysia’s capital is a thrumming metropolis chockful of British colonial buildings, Moorish-style mosques and bulbous skyscrapers brushing against the horizon. A colourful, historically rich slice of paradise, Kuala Lumpur harbours more than just a handful of must-sees.

During a city sightseeing tour, gaze up at the 451 metre tall Petronas Twin Towers, a pair of mighty skyscrapers with Islamic motifs and an observation deck; feast your eyes upon Masjid Jamek near Merdeka Square – a Moorish-style mosque – and see the National Monument, nestled in the emerald-hued Lake Gardens.

After spending two nights at a deluxe five-star hotel, you’ll be whisked off to Singapore – a tropical island-city state with a colonial core characterized by grandiose buildings (such as City Hall) and the Padang cricket field, dating back to the 1830's.

Meanwhile, Chinatown is home to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple (said to be the home of one of Buddha’s teeth) and a plethora of scents, sounds and sights. Sample Chinese treats here, or head down to Little India for a masala-infused feast.

And for the last leg of your trip, pack your bags for Bali – an island in Indonesia swarming with rice paddies, coral reefs, smouldering volcanoes and of course, sand, sand, sand as far as the eye can see.

Spending five nights at a four-star hotel with no set itinerary means your time is your own; spend it frolicking about in teal-coloured waters, flitting between the lively bars of Kuta or trying your hand at yoga or meditation.

Make sure you visit at least one of Bali’s Hindu temples (each village has at least three) and breathe in the beauty of the island's beaches (Jimbaran Bay, in particular, is great for swimming). It wouldn’t be a true trip to Bali without indulging in a bit of beach-hopping.
